West Sound Neighborhoods
Our West Sound communities are located on the Kitsap Peninsula and are home to family friendly communities, breathtaking views, waterfront parks and the tranquil beauty of more than 300 miles of shoreline. Nestled between the Cascade and Olympic Mountains and surrounded by water, the West Sound is one of the most scenic areas in the Pacific Northwest.
The West Sound offers residents the best of both worlds—all the benefits and charm of a small, rural community, yet it is located only a short ferry ride from Seattle’s rich cultural amenities and vibrant downtown.
East Sound Neighborhoods
Professionally managed by Forest City Military Communities Northwest, LLC, we offer military families housing options and community programs that will set the standard for those to come. Our dedicated teams of management, administrative, relocation, maintenance and grounds keeping professionals are committed to providing you with military family housing that you will be proud to call home.
Our East Sound communities are situated in three diverse locations, each with its own distinct charm and character. They include the Jim Creek Recreational Facility near Arlington, about one and a half hours north of Seattle; Brier, a town about 15 miles north of Seattle in Snohomish County, and Fort Lawton, located in Seattle in Discovery Park, in the city’s Magnolia neighborhood.
Like all of our other Sound communities, our East Sound homes provide residents with the best that the region—proximity to the bustle and diversity of the city combined with breathtaking views of water and mountains, along with a wide range of recreational activities year—round
North Sound Neighborhoods
Northwest of Seattle and southwest of the San Juan Islands, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island is located in the city of Oak Harbor, the island’s premier waterfront community. Nestled between the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges, Whidbey Island offers majestic views and more than 200 miles of shoreline. The island community offers a wide variety of recreational activities including beachcombing, shopping, hiking, fishing, boating, biking and golfing.
Unique in the Pacific Northwest, the island’s temperatures seldom fall below freezing or exceed 80 degrees. Since Whidbey Island is located in the “rain shadow” of the Olympics, it receives less than half the average rainfall of Seattle.
